I’m Jonte, based in Auckland, New Zealand. For the last three years I’ve worked shoulder-to-shoulder with Steve Richardson, a long-time collaborator.

Together, we sit in a slightly different – and still quite empty – space in the New Zealand market:

  • We’ve both founded, grown and run our own businesses, up to 50 people.
  • We’ve both spent decades inside global brands and complex organisations.
  • And we still care deeply about doing sharp, imaginative creative work.

In other words: we think like owners, we operate like executives, and we deliver like a senior creative/strategy team.

WHAT WE’VE SEEN

In New Zealand, there’s no shortage of smart agencies or smart consultants.

But there is a gap.

Brand and marketing are often treated as “comms” that sit on the surface of the business – separate from the operating model, the commercial reality, the growth cycle, the market context.

We see the cost of that every day:
brands that look good but don’t move the numbers,
and businesses that are commercially strong but strategically invisible.

For us, the work only really lands when those two worlds are one conversation.

SENIOR GLOBAL EXPERIENCE

Between us we’ve spent nearly 30 years each working across most major categories – from large corporates to fast-growth ventures – in New Zealand, Australia, the UK and beyond.

We’ve:

  • Sat on leadership teams and around board tables.
  • Built and rebuilt operating models, pricing, and go-to-market approaches.
  • Developed brand platforms and creative systems that actually survive contact with sales targets and monthly reporting.

That mix is the point. It’s not “brand and business”; it’s brand connected to, and integrated with the running of the business.

HOW WE THINK

Our approach is pretty simple:

  • Business first. We start by understanding how the machine really works – revenue model, cost structure, constraints, opportunities.
  • Context before creativity. We map the market, category codes, culture and competitive set so we know what’s crowded and what’s wide open.
  • Creative that earns its keep. Only then do we build brand platforms, narratives and systems that can stretch across campaigns and channels and still make commercial sense.
  • Two senior heads, no hand-off. For the past three years we’ve worked as a tight unit. The people you talk to are the people who do the work.

WHAT WE “SELL”

We don’t think in products, but most of what we do falls into three buckets:

  • Clarifying the foundation
    Positioning, architecture, and the strategic spine of the brand.
  • Building the story
    Platforms, narratives and creative territories that can live for the long-term.
  • Making it usable
    Systems, templates and ways of working so brand, marketing and the wider business are actually aligned.

A clearer line between ambition, commercial reality and creative expression – so leaders can move faster and with more confidence.

HOW WE WORK

We spend time listening – to founders, to teams, to the numbers – then co-design a practical path forward and stay close enough to see it through.

Most of our work comes from people who’ve seen us up close before and want that mix of strategic depth and creative sharpness without a big-agency machine around it.

We’re small on purpose.

We’d rather work deeply with a handful of organisations that genuinely want to connect their brand, business model and market opportunity – and are willing to do the thinking and the changing that requires.
